Sempra Delays ECA LNG Project Due to Compressor Damage

Sempra Infrastructure's Energia Costa Azul (ECA) LNG Phase 1 project in Ensenada, Mexico has been pushed back to a fourth-quarter commissioning phase due to damage discovered on the facility's refrigerant compressors.

The compressor issues have forced the company to reschedule the commercial startup from its initial summer target. This delay also means that Permian feedgas demand will face a longer wait before being exported as LNG.

The discovery of damage to the compressors has prompted Sempra Infrastructure to reassess the project's timeline, ultimately pushing back the commissioning phase to Q4. The impact on commercial exports and the revised timeline remains unclear at this time.
