Sensex Edges Higher Amid Global Caution
The BSE Sensex closed at 74,902.59 on Thursday, September 10, up 138.37 points or 0.19% from the previous day's settlement.
This gain came despite a cautious global market mood, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng closing down 1.27% and European benchmarks reversing lower after the European Central Bank's interest-rate increase.
The index spent much of the day oscillating between roughly 74,600 and 74,910 before staging a sharp late rally to close above Wednesday's settlement of 74,764.23.
Oil marketing companies and downstream consumers of energy, including aviation and paint manufacturers, remained closely watched due to their sensitivity to crude price swings.
