Sensex Tanks Over 600 Points Amid Crude Oil Surge
The Indian stock market experienced a sharp decline on Thursday, September 24, 2026, with the Sensex falling by 632.68 points to 74,189.55 in early trade.
This downturn was largely attributed to the surge in crude oil prices, which reached above $100 per barrel, and the rise of the U.S. 10-year bond yield to 5.11%.
Among the Sensex firms, Bajaj Finance dropped by 4.75%, while Bajaj Finserv declined by 3.49%. Axis Bank, InterGlobe Aviation, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and HDFC Bank were also among the major laggards.
However, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma, HCL Tech, ICICI Bank, and Tata Consultancy Services managed to buck the trend, registering gains.
