Sensex Tumbles 1,124 Points as Crude Oil Prices Soar
The Indian stock market witnessed a sharp decline on Friday, with the Sensex plummeting 1,124.02 points to its lowest closing level since March 30, 2026.
The benchmark index settled at 72,771.72, while the Nifty dropped below 22,800, marking a near six-month low.
The decline was driven by surging crude oil prices, which jumped 3.81% to $108.3 per barrel, and geopolitical tensions in West Asia, particularly the US rejection of a ceasefire proposal and the stalemate over the Strait of Hormuz.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 3,693.93 crore, contributing to the selling pressure.
