Shimla Jewellers Focus on Lightweight Designs Amid Elevated Gold Prices
Despite gold prices remaining at elevated levels, traditional jewellery designs and lightweight craftsmanship are attracting buyers in Shimla ahead of the upcoming festive and wedding season. The four-day exhibition, which started on September 19 and will run until September 22, has brought together more than 5,000 designs across various types of jewellery.
Akshay Verma of Verma Jewellers said that rates are relatively stable at the moment, but customers are increasingly looking for variety, quality, and transparency in their purchases. The exhibition aims to address this demand by offering a large variety of designs under one roof.
Verma highlighted an old-gold exchange programme, which allows customers to exchange their existing jewellery for new pieces. The programme includes a transparent valuation process, where the gold is melted in front of the customer and its purity checked through a karat meter.
