Sterling Silver is the most common grade used in jewellery and household items, containing 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. Britannia Silver contains 95.8% silver and 4.2% other metals, introduced as a higher standard than sterling silver in Britain in 1697.

The daily silver rate online is just a benchmark, with the final showroom price always being higher due to making charges (varying by design) and 3% GST. The weight of embedded stones is excluded when calculating the net silver weight for pricing in studded silver jewellery.
