Sioux Falls residents are facing another big jump in gas prices, with the average price for regular unleaded reaching $4.02 per gallon on September 9.

This latest spike represents a 23-cent increase over just one week, bringing the total to $3.80 from $4.28 nationally.

The city's diesel prices have also been affected, setting a record high at $5.54 per gallon.

The surge in crude oil prices is behind this latest pain at the pump, with escalating attacks and tensions in the Middle East raising concerns about global oil supplies.
