South Korea to Pump $200 Billion into US Projects, Including Alaska LNG
US President Donald Trump is expected to announce on September 30 that South Korea plans to invest about $200 billion in various US projects, including a significant stake in the Alaska LNG project.
The investment of approximately $54 billion in the Alaska LNG project aims to transport natural gas from Alaska and export it primarily to Asian markets as liquefied natural gas (LNG).
According to Bloomberg, which cited sources familiar with the matter, the project involves constructing a 1,200-kilometer gas pipeline and an LNG export terminal.
The project's high cost and scale have complicated its implementation, but South Korean investment is expected to support both the construction of the pipeline and the export terminal.
