Southeast Natural Gas Prices Surge Amid Regional Divergence
Natural gas forward prices in the eastern United States are experiencing a divergence as we head into fall, with Appalachian supply hubs seeing their prices sink while Southeast markets command some of their strongest premiums.
The decline in Appalachian October basis is evident, while Southeast October premiums have risen above the forward curve. The Henry Hub has also seen its price firm up as storage views shift.
This divergence highlights the regional differences in natural gas pricing, with constrained Southeast markets driving up prices due to supply issues and strong demand. In contrast, the Appalachian region's supply hubs are experiencing a decline in prices due to increased production and lower demand.
