Gold prices in India opened on a steady note on August 1, following recent trends across domestic and global bullion markets. The retail price of 24-karat gold stood at approximately INR 1,44,610 per 10 grams, while 22-karat gold was trading at around INR 1,32,560 per 10 grams. In contrast, 18-karat gold was available for around INR 1,08,460 per 10 grams.

The minor fluctuations in retail gold rates follow a volatile trading session at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) wrapping up July, where global bullion pressures impacted spot prices. Market analysts note that domestic consumer demand remains resilient despite high absolute price points, as gold continues to serve as a traditional hedge against economic uncertainties.

The gold rate varies slightly across different regions due to local taxes, transportation costs, and bullion association guidelines. The city-wise breakdown of standard pricing for 22-karat and 24-karat gold per gram in major metropolitan areas shows that Delhi has the highest price at INR 1,32,710 and INR 1,44,760 respectively.
