TotalEnergies and its partners are moving forward with the $12 billion Gran Moruga project in Suriname, aiming to start offshore oil and gas production by mid-2028. The project's CEO, Anand Jagessar of StatSoli, emphasized the significance of this initiative, saying 'Together, we are not only developing an energy project, we are writing a new chapter in Suriname’s history.'

The Gran Moruga project is set to be the first offshore field brought online from Suriname's extensive resource base. According to Wood Mackenzie, Suriname has over 2.4 billion barrels of oil and related liquids, alongside more than 12.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

Patrick Pouyanné, chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, noted that the consortium has already spent approximately 50 percent of the total planned investment for the project.
