T&T LNG Exports Inch Higher in 2025 Amid Intensifying Global Competition

Trinidad and Tobago's liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports edged higher in 2025, reaching 10.7 billion cubic meters (bcm). The increase came after two consecutive years of lower export volumes, reflecting a modest recovery in domestic LNG production.

The Energy Institute's 2026 Statistical Review of World Energy reported that South and Central America remained Trinidad and Tobago's largest regional destination, receiving 4.57 bcm of LNG in 2025. Europe imported 3.23 bcm, followed by the Asia-Pacific region with 1.91 bcm.

Despite the growth, export volumes remain well below levels seen a decade ago, due to tighter domestic gas supplies and shifting trade patterns. The industry has also faced increased competition from new LNG suppliers.
