Tajikistan Begins Receiving Iranian Oil and Fuel Shipments
Tajikistan has begun receiving shipments of oil and petroleum products from Iran, according to reports. The country's Ministry of Energy and Water Resources confirmed the deliveries on September 24.
The initial shipment volumes or commercial terms were not disclosed by the ministry. However, in August, Tajikistan had sought to import up to 2.55 million tons annually from Iran, including 2 million tons of crude oil, 300,000 tons of diesel, 150,000 tons of gasoline, and 100,000 tons of jet fuel.
Iranian crude could be processed at Tajikistan's TK-Oil refinery in the Danghara Free Economic Zone. The refinery has faced difficulties operating at full capacity due to limited feedstock.
