A second tanker has reportedly been struck in the Strait of Hormuz as tensions continue to rise in the strategic waterway amid the ongoing war between Iran and the United States and Israel.

The incident comes amid continued concerns over the safety of vessels using the strait, a major route for global oil and gas supplies. Suspected Iranian strikes on ships in the waterway have continued almost daily.

Earlier this week, an attack on a Saudi tanker killed two sailors, further raising concerns over the safety of vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

The waterway has remained at the centre of the conflict after Tehran shut it down following the opening US and Israeli strikes in February, affecting a major artery for global energy trade.
