Tantita Security Services' Operations Boost Nigeria's Oil Production
Nigeria's oil production has surged in recent months due to several factors. According to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), pipeline losses have dropped to historical lows, averaging just 1.57mbpd in July. This decrease in losses is attributed to the efforts of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd (TSSNL) in protecting oil assets and ensuring peace and stability in the Niger Delta region.
TSSNL's operations have had a significant impact on the oil industry, allowing Nigeria to expand its oil production quota and reduce rampant oil theft. The company works closely with other security outfits to achieve its goals of securing oil assets and maintaining peace in the region. In recognition of their efforts, President Bola Tinubu appointed Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd led by High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, to protect Nigeria's oil assets.
The NUPRC also reported that Nigeria met its OPEC production quota for the third straight month in July, producing a combined 1.67 million barrels per day (mbpd) of crude oil and condensate. While overall production fell 4% compared to June due to operational challenges at the Erha and Akpo fields, most other producing assets remained stable.
The Domestic Crude Supply Obligation (DCSO) framework, which requires producers to supply a certain volume of crude oil and condensate to local refiners, has also seen significant improvement. In Q2 2026, a total of 53.7 million barrels were supplied to local refiners, showing an overall performance of 97.4%.
