TC Energy Reconsiders BC LNG Project Amid Global Gas Crunch
TC Energy Corp., the company behind the Coastal GasLink pipeline in British Columbia, Canada, may reconsider its earlier decision to exit the Ksi Lisims LNG project. The move comes as global energy markets are under strain due to recent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
In an interview with energynow.com, TC Energy CEO François Poirier said that the global gas crunch has bolstered the outlook for Canadian liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. He noted that the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission line, which would supply the Ksi Lisims LNG project, would require an experienced operator to build and run it.
Poirier stated that while TC Energy is open to revisiting its earlier decision, no conversations have been held with the Nisga'a Nation and Western LNG, who acquired the pipeline permits and certificates. He emphasized that any decision would depend on other opportunities available at the time.
