Teck Resources Sees Record Copper Prices Drive Profit Surge
Teck Resources has reported a significant rebound in profitability for its second-quarter 2026 results, driven by record copper prices and higher output. The company's unaudited results, released on July 22, show that adjusted EBITDA climbed to C$2.2 billion, more than tripling year-on-year.
The boost in profitability was largely due to the company's QB copper operation and Trail zinc and critical metals facility performing strongly. Teck Resources also reaffirmed its progress on its merger of equals with Anglo American, which is expected to create a Canadian-headquartered critical minerals champion and unlock cost and growth synergies.
The company highlighted continued operational stability at QB, where Q2 2026 copper production reached 55,800 tonnes as part of a wider 25% increase in group copper volumes to 135,900 tonnes. Teck Resources also noted that its copper segment gross profit before depreciation and amortization surged to C$1.8 billion.
The most recent analyst rating on Teck Resources stock is a Buy with a price target of C$93.00. Spark's AI Analyst has given the stock a Neutral rating, citing improving fundamentals but holding back due to inconsistent free cash flow and weak technical momentum.
