Tecnimont and CCC Secure Aramco Contract for Safaniyah Water Injection Project
Tecnimont, an Italian global contractor specializing in complex facilities, and the Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), a leading Middle Eastern construction firm, have finalized a major construction agreement with Saudi oil giant Aramco for the Safaniyah Water Injection Project. This project is part of Aramco's broader upstream expansion efforts at the Safaniyah field, the world's largest offshore oil field and a critical source of Saudi Arabia's Arabian Heavy crude production.
The water injection initiative is essential for maintaining reservoir pressure and ensuring sustained oil output from the field, which has been operational since the 1950s. Tecnimont, a subsidiary of Milan-listed Maire, is overseeing the project for Aramco and has entrusted the physical construction to CCC. Under the agreement, CCC will manage project execution and construction activities, leveraging its expertise and experience in significant oil and gas projects across Saudi Arabia.
The contract was formalized in Al Khobar by Daniele Quintarelli, Tecnimont's Regional Vice President, and Hisham Kawash, CCC's Regional Managing Director, following official approval from Aramco. This deal marks another milestone in the ongoing partnership between Tecnimont and CCC, reinforcing CCC's role as a key execution partner for major oil and gas projects in Saudi Arabia. A company representative noted that the agreement strengthens their collaborative relationship with Tecnimont, which has spanned numerous hydrocarbon initiatives in the Gulf.
The Safaniyah development is strategically important for Aramco's upstream activities, with the water injection project being a crucial part of the infrastructure supporting the field's continued growth.
