Tehran Offers Seven-Day Plan for Reopening Strait of Hormuz
Iran has proposed a new plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume nuclear talks with the United States. The proposal, which was conveyed to Washington by Qatar, would require the US to lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports, waive sanctions on Iranian oil sales, and agree to a ceasefire covering Lebanon.
The seven-day timeline for implementing the plan would start as soon as the US accepts it. Initial steps would take four to five days, with the Strait of Hormuz reopening on the sixth day. Talks with the US on a final nuclear agreement would then begin on the seventh day.
