Tinubu's Reforms Boost Nigerian Oil Production by 80% in Three Years
Nigeria's crude oil production has seen an impressive increase of 80 percent in just three years, according to Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Senator Heineken Lokpobiri.
The minister revealed that Nigeria's crude oil production hit 1,824,000 barrels per day during this period, up from less than 1 million barrels per day when he took over the office.
Lokpobiri attributed this success to President Bola Tinubu's reforms and investments in the sector, which have positioned Nigeria as one of the global oil and gas destinations. He noted that before this government came into power, there was zero investment in Nigeria's oil and gas sector for over 10 years.
The minister highlighted significant investments made by Shell and ExxonMobil, including Bonga North, H.I., Bonga Southwest, and Zabazaba, which have contributed to the increase in production. He also emphasized that indigenous companies now account for about 60 percent of local production.
