Tourmaline Oil Stands Out as Leader in Canada's Natural Gas Sector
Tourmaline Oil (TOU) continues to stand out as a leading player in Canada's natural gas sector. As the country's largest producer of natural gas, its operations are at the intersection of two significant trends: the launch of west coast liquefied natural gas exports and growing demand for gas-fired power.
The Calgary-based company recently reported strong second-quarter results for 2026, with average production of nearly 600,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Its cash flow from operations reached $786.1 million, or $2.02 per diluted share, while net earnings were $184.4 million, or $0.47 per diluted share.
Tourmaline's diversified marketing strategy is designed to capture the shift in the Canadian gas market, which is at an inflection point due to the arrival of LNG export terminals on the British Columbia coast. This has opened access to Asian and global markets, while growing electricity demand supports structural demand for gas-fired generation.
