Tourmaline Oil Ltd., Canada's largest natural gas producer, is eyeing new opportunities in data centers and oilsands to drive growth in its next phase of development. Jamie Heard, vice president of capital markets at Tourmaline, sees industrial demand from Alberta's oilsands and a surge in the data center sector as key drivers for LNG export growth.

The company has identified 1 Bcf/d (billion cubic feet per day) of potential demand from the data center sector in Alberta. This growth is expected to offset pipeline constraints that have threatened industrial growth. However, Heard notes that additional gas supply is required to meet this demand.
