Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line (Transco) is expanding its Texas capacity to meet growing demand in Houston and for power generation.

The company expects to start service on November 1 on two Texas expansions, totaling 285,000 Dth/d. One expansion will transport Louisiana natural gas west into Houston for CenterPoint Energy, while the other will serve a Vistra coal plant that is switching to natural gas.

CenterPoint's contracted capacity will be ramped up to 115,000 Dth/d, Transco Zone 3 holds a premium over Zone 2 in terms of pricing. The Wharton West expansion will feed the conversion of the Vistra coal plant to natural gas.
