Tri-State Gas Prices Soar Amid Global Crude Oil Costs

The Tri-State region is experiencing high gas prices, but how does it compare to other states across the country? According to AAA, Indiana has the cheapest average price for a gallon at $3.75, while Ohio ranks 28th in the nation with an average of $4.34 per gallon.

AAA spokesperson Chelsea Sick explains that 50% of what drivers pay at the pump is for crude oil, which is a global commodity affected by international events. Currently, a barrel of crude oil is over $100, impacting gas prices.

The conflict in Iran and the Strait of Hormuz are contributing factors to the high prices, Sick notes. Additionally, diesel prices are averaging at $6.32 in Ohio, a record-high that affects the economy as well. Higher diesel costs can lead to increased food prices due to transportation costs.
