Trump Defends Alaska LNG Investment Amid South Korea's Reticence
US President Donald Trump has dismissed concerns that he 'jumped the gun' on announcing South Korean investment in an Alaska liquefied natural gas project. The plan was unveiled as part of a package of US-South Korea trade deal projects, which also includes two other ventures: a gas-fired power plant in Texas and eight nuclear power plants.
In a press briefing at the White House on October 2, Trump said South Korean representatives were present when he announced the investment. He added that if Seoul doesn't want to participate in the Alaska project, 'that's okay with me,' and hinted at increasing costs for Korea.
