Trump Floats Keeping Iranian Oil Reserves Amid Venezuela Deal Parallels
US President Donald Trump has suggested that the US could stay in Iran and keep its oil reserves, drawing parallels with a deal made with Venezuela. Speaking at the Irish Open golf championship on September 13, Trump stated that he expected the Iran war to end this year, possibly after the US midterm elections in November.
He added that once the Iran war ends, petrol prices would 'drop like a rock'. Turmoil in the Middle East has led to oil price fluctuations, with traders expecting prices to rise again on Monday following an attack on a Saudi oil pipeline.
Trump emphasized that he would only make a deal that is 'good' and that Iran has been calling for peace talks. However, he also mentioned staying engaged with Iran as an option, similar to the US deal in Venezuela announced in August.
