US President Donald Trump has urged US oil companies to lower gasoline prices for American consumers. In a post on his Truth Social platform, he criticized Chevron CEO Mike Wirth for failing to acknowledge the role of his administration in strengthening the U.S. energy sector.

Trump claimed that without his administration's support, the oil industry and the country would be 'Dead'. He also pointed out that Chevron had been forced out of Venezuela but returned under his administration's policies.

Rising gasoline costs driven by the conflict with Iran pose a political challenge for Trump ahead of the US congressional midterm elections in November. Despite global oil prices declining after Trump canceled the planned attack on Iran, retail gasoline prices have not followed suit.
