Trump Rejects Iranian Proposal to End Middle East Conflict in Seven Days

US President Donald Trump has rejected Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and halt regional fighting within seven days, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The plan, conveyed through Qatari mediators, requires the US to lift its blockade on Iranian ports, release Iran's frozen funds, and waive its oil sanctions in exchange for Iran reopening the strait and ending hostilities.

Araqchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, said that if there is 'seriousness' from the US side to come to a deal, everything is prepared. However, Trump has privately expressed skepticism about Iran meeting his demands and reportedly told his staff that he expects to resume bombing after November's congressional elections.

The conflict in the Middle East has disrupted oil flows through one of the world's most critical shipping lanes and drawn in regional and world powers. The US and Israel initiated strikes on February 28, marking the start of a seven-month-old conflict that has killed thousands and degraded Iran's conventional forces.
