Trump Rejects Iran's Proposal to Reopen Strait of Hormuz
US President Donald Trump has rejected Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within a week if certain conditions are met. The conditions include lifting the US naval blockade of Iranian ports, waiving sanctions on Iranian oil sales, and observing a ceasefire that would include Lebanon.
The proposal was made by Iranian officials earlier this week during indirect talks with the US at the United Nations gathering in New York. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told CBS that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has 'no specific ongoing health issues' despite not being seen or heard in public since the war began in February.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's military spokesperson claimed that a ballistic missile launched by Iran-backed Houthis in neighboring Yemen was intercepted and destroyed. The Gulf Cooperation Council condemned the latest Houthi attacks as a 'grave escalation and threat to regional security'.
