Trump Rejects Iran's Proposal to Reopen Strait of Hormuz Within a Week

US President Donald Trump rejected Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within a week if certain conditions are met. The proposal, made by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, included lifting the US naval blockade of Iranian ports, waiving sanctions on Iranian oil sales, and observing a ceasefire that would include Lebanon.

In exchange, Iran would reopen the strait and resume talks on its nuclear program in seven days. However, Trump dismissed the proposal, saying Iran was 'losing so badly' and wanted to make a deal.

The Strait of Hormuz has been closed since late February after the US and Israel attacked the Islamic Republic. As a result, the number of ships passing through the strait has significantly decreased due to Iranian threats and attacks on vessels in the waterway.
