Trump Renames Strait of Hormuz to 'Trump Strait' Amid Tensions with Iran

US President Donald Trump has once again asserted his country's dominance over the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway between Iran and the Arabian Peninsula. In a post on Truth Social, he labeled it the 'Trump Strait,' just hours after reports emerged that he had rejected an Iranian proposal for a seven-day ceasefire.

The map shared by Trump highlights the narrow passage with the new label, echoing previous statements where he floated the idea of renaming the waterway. On September 2, he wrote: 'Now that we have it under U.S.A. control, should we change the name Hormuz Strait to TRUMP STRAIT??? Like America itself, it would be 'hotter' than ever before!'

The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had outlined the conditions for a ceasefire, including lifting naval blockade of Iranian ports and waiving sanctions on oil exports. However, Trump's rejection of this proposal raises concerns about escalating tensions in the region.
