Trump Seeks New Talks with Iran Amid Intensifying Economic Pressure

President Donald Trump has expressed his expectation for new talks with Iran despite rejecting a ceasefire proposal from Tehran. In a phone interview, he stated that 'I expect more talks with Iran [this week]. They want to make a deal, but it is not the deal that I want to make. It is what we would have maybe agreed to a year ago. They overplayed their hand.'

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent predicted that Iran will complete its remaining oil shipments to China within two weeks. He described this as evidence that Operation Economic Outcast has left Tehran economically isolated, saying 'They will have nothing to trade for anything, probably within the next two weeks.'
