US President Donald Trump expressed optimism that the war against Iran is nearing its end, despite escalating conflicts in Yemen. The conflict has been ongoing for seven months and has seen Saudi aircraft pounding Houthi fighters and their attacks on Saudi cities.

The Iran-backed Houthis have made significant gains along the Red Sea coast of Yemen, extending Tehran's reach in the war and increasing global oil supply risks. Saudi Arabia has also offered extra crude cargoes through Oman to reduce fears of supply disruptions.

Trump's comments came as he announced plans to meet with Gulf leaders at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday to discuss the next steps in the conflict. The meeting is expected to include leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman.
