US President Donald Trump has predicted that the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran will soon end, leading to a decline in global oil prices. According to Trump, Iran's economic collapse is evident due to hyperinflation rates reaching 318%, although this figure is not independently verified.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had previously raised its FY27 domestic inflation projection to 5.1% due to elevated oil prices. A resolution to the US-Iran tension would relieve global energy supply chains and benefit heavy oil importers like India.

India's retail CPI inflation was recorded at 4.82% in August 2026, while Iran's inflation has surged to 88.6% as a consequence of regional conflict.
