Trump Threatens South Korea with Higher Costs over Alaska LNG Project
US President Donald Trump has threatened to charge South Korea more if it rejects an Alaska LNG project, which Seoul has yet to finalize its decision on.
The project involves constructing a 1,298-kilometer-long pipeline from the North Slope in Alaska to southern Alaska to transport natural gas for shipments to Asia.
Trump made the remarks during a press availability at the White House, stating that South Korea will 'charge them more' if it does not agree to invest in the project.
The US Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick, has said that South Korea will invest over $50 billion in the Alaska project.
It remains unclear what Trump means by 'charge them more', but the threat comes after Seoul expressed uncertainty about its participation in the project.
