Trump Threatens to Double Charges on Korea Over Alaska LNG Project
U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to impose additional charges on South Korea if it rejects an investment in the $50 billion Alaska liquefied natural gas (LNG) development project.
In a meeting with reporters at the White House, Trump stated that he would 'double the charges' if Korea does not agree to invest in the project. He also said that he did not release the information hastily and that Korea has not finalized its investment.
Earlier on October 1st, Trump unilaterally announced that the Korean government would invest in the Alaska LNG project. However, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources later clarified that no decision had been made regarding an investment or the size of any potential contribution.
