Trump Warns Xi Against Supporting Iran Amid Reports of Chinese Military Aid

US President Donald Trump reportedly warned Chinese President Xi Jinping against providing support to Iran during their talks in Washington this week.

The warning came amid reports that China had supplied Iran with shoulder-fired air-defense missile launchers and helped Tehran find ways to evade US sanctions on its oil exports, according to US Ambassador to China David Perdue.

Perdue said Trump made his position clear to Xi, stating that any Chinese assistance to Iran was 'totally unacceptable.'

Washington subsequently received assurances from Beijing that it would not provide such assistance, Perdue stated.
