Trump's Oil Holdings Skyrocket During War with Iran
President Donald Trump's oil and gas stock holdings saw significant gains during the war with Iran, increasing by as much as $4.4 million (approximately ¥680 million) between February 27 and August 31, according to an analysis by U.S. media.
The investigation found that some shares were sold just before critical decisions, such as ceasefire announcements, which would determine the trajectory of the conflict.
On March 23, Trump announced he would postpone airstrikes on Iranian energy facilities, causing international crude oil prices to plummet more than 10%. However, a batch of 16 purchases of oil and gas stocks was executed that same day, with a total transaction value estimated at approximately $163,000 to $570,000 (about ¥88 million).
The most notable transaction occurred on April 7, when a large volume of Exxon Mobil shares was sold before a two-week ceasefire with Iran was announced. The sale was completed just before the public release of market-negative news.
