UK Offers Limited Military Support to Saudi Arabia Against Houthi Rebels

Britain has agreed to provide limited military support to Saudi Arabia in its conflict against the Houthi rebels in Yemen. Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced that the Royal Air Force will offer air-to-air refuelling of Saudi planes, but emphasized that this is a short-term agreement for 'a matter of weeks'. The move aims to help secure oil shipping routes through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea.

The conflict has escalated in recent days with Houthi rebels targeting Riyadh with missile strikes. Burnham stated that Britain's decision was made to protect regional stability, civilians, and humanitarian access. Saudi Arabia has already intercepted one ballistic missile fired by the Houthis at Riyadh.
