US Boosts Military Presence in Middle East Amid Escalating Tensions with Iran
The US military has increased its presence in the Middle East by deploying additional Patriot missile batteries to Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The deployments are part of a broader American military buildup in the region, with two more Patriot batteries being sent to the Gulf in recent weeks.
One battery was deployed to Saudi Arabia to defend a key oil facility, while the other was sent to Qatar to protect a natural gas facility. This move comes as President Donald Trump considers renewed military action against Iran, despite diplomatic efforts remaining stalled.
Saudi and Qatari leaders had previously warned Washington about the risk of Iranian retaliation targeting their own oil and gas installations, which could have operational importance for the US in defending Saudi airspace.
