US-China Tariff Deal Excludes LNG, Leaves Price Benchmarks Unchanged
The recent US-China tariff agreement has left liquefied natural gas (LNG) out of the deal, limiting its impact on major LNG price benchmarks. According to Walter Bloomberg, LNG was not included in the agreement, which means that JKM, the Northeast Asia LNG spot benchmark, and TTF, the European natural gas benchmark, have remained largely unaffected.
While there is still room for discussion on resuming US LNG exports to China, any future negotiations would need to be expanded by the newly formed US-China trade committee. For now, however, there has been no immediate change in LNG trade flows, and it could take months for related negotiations to broaden.
