US Dollar Weakness Drives Down Gold and Silver Prices

International gold and silver prices closed lower on Monday.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, gold futures for December delivery dropped 1.07 percent to settle at $4,481.50 per ounce, while silver futures for December delivery lost 1.17 percent to close at $66.990 per ounce.

The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday, with the dollar index falling 0.28 percent to 99.428 against six major peers by 15:00 (1900 GMT).
