USDA has announced that American farmers have planted a record-breaking amount of corn and soybeans for the 2026/27 season. The combined acreage of these two crops reached an impressive 183.5 million acres, surpassing the previous record by over 3 million acres.

This milestone is reflected in the latest Crop Production and World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates reports from USDA. According to Progressive Farmer, the soybean crop has seen a significant boost, making it the largest in U.S. history.

Farm Futures suggests that while the exact reasons behind this increase are not specified by USDA, additional acreage certification data collected by Farm Service and Risk Management agencies likely indicated higher planting rates for both corn and soybeans than initially forecasted in June.
