The US military has thwarted an Iranian missile attack and launched strikes against militias in Iraq with Saudi Arabia's forces.

According to a U.S. official, Iran launched its ballistic missile attack before American and Saudi forces carried out strikes in Iraq, but the two attacks were not connected.

The US Central Command stated that all Iranian missiles launched against American forces in the Middle East were intercepted, with the military remaining vigilant and at a high state of readiness.

The strikes in Iraq targeted multiple terrorist logistics and weapons sites across eastern Iraq, which U.S. Central Command said were used by Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard to launch aerial drone attacks.
