US Forces Destroy 10 Iranian Oil Tankers in Operation Against Shadow Network
US forces have destroyed 10 Iranian oil tankers over the past week as part of an operation targeting a multibillion-dollar shadow network that finances Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) made this announcement on Wednesday, stating that the 10 tankers were part of the shadow network.
CENTCOM also denied claims by the IRGC that they had targeted two US Navy destroyers in the Middle East, calling them 'completely false'. This comes after US strikes on five Iranian oil tankers on Tuesday, following IRGC attempts to target a US Navy warship with ballistic missiles twice over two days.
The operation aims to disrupt Iran's funding of its military operations and support for militant groups in the region.
