US Forces Strike Iranian Oil Tanker near Kharg Island
The United States military forces targeted an Iranian oil tanker on Tuesday evening, September 8. According to Tasnim News Agency, the small tanker was struck by a US missile approximately four miles off Kharg Island.
Local sources cited by Tasnim reported that the projectile was fired within the anchorage zone of Kharg Island, with no casualties reported so far. The crew members are evacuating the vessel as the extent of the damage and precise details of the incident remain under investigation.
The US military's actions sparked a warning from Iranian media outlets, which reported hearing explosions near Kharg Island and Jask County. Ali Abdollahi, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic, stated that any aggression against Iranian oil tankers will result in targeting US bases in the region.
