US Gas Prices Hit New Highs Amid Rising Oil Costs
Gas prices in Western Pennsylvania have surged by 20 cents this week to $4.738 per gallon, according to AAA East Central's Gas Price Report. The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has risen by 16 cents from last week to $4.47 and is now over one dollar higher than it was a year ago.
Crude oil remains high, averaging $100 per barrel amid continued volatility in the Strait of Hormuz. Gas prices have returned to levels seen earlier this year during the spring, with the national average inching closer to its record high of $4.56 set on May 21.
