US Gas Prices Soar to Four-Year High Amid Ongoing Iran War
US gasoline prices have hit their highest level in four years, reaching an average of $4.17 per gallon. This marks a significant increase of $1.19 per gallon since the Iran war began on February 28.
The US-Israeli war on Iran has led to one of the largest global oil shocks in history, causing fuel costs to spike. Gas prices had previously reached a high of $4.17 on April 9, but a US-Iran ceasefire announced earlier put downward pressure on prices.
However, as negotiations over the war appear to show little signs of resolution, oil prices have risen, prompting an increase in gasoline prices. The Philadelphia area average shot up 15 cents since Monday to $4.27 per gallon.
