US Gas Prices Surge Above $4 Amid Iran Tensions and Supply Disruptions
Gas prices in the US have climbed above $4 per gallon amid ongoing tensions between the US and Iran. The conflict has disrupted oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, leading to increased costs for fuel in the US.
The war in Iran has been a major factor in the rise of gas prices, with Carole Nakhle, CEO of Crystol Energy, stating that 'the Strait of Hormuz remains the most important factor behind the increase in oil and therefore gasoline prices.'
According to AAA, the nationwide average price for regular unleaded stood at $4.04 on Wednesday, up from $3.88 a month prior.
The West Coast is particularly vulnerable to supply disruptions due to its reliance on Middle Eastern imports, with California currently boasting the highest price of $5.58 per gallon, followed by Hawaii ($5.54) and Washington state ($5.15).
