US-Iran Strikes Fuel Crude Oil Price Surge

Crude oil prices rose by around 1% on Wednesday, marking their third consecutive gain. This increase comes amid heightened tensions between the US and Iran, following a significant round of strikes since July.

The latest escalation in hostilities has dimmed hopes for a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil shipping route that was previously threatened by Iranian actions. The Strait's closure would have had severe consequences for global oil supplies.

The US Oil Fund LP ETF (USO) and other crude oil-related assets, such as UCO and CL1:COM, responded positively to the price increase. However, it remains unclear how long this trend will continue in light of the ongoing tensions.
